Authentic German-style fried potatoes with onions and herbs

🥔 German Fried Potatoes with Onion and Herbs (Bratkartoffeln)

Ingredients:

* 700g potatoes.

* 1 large onion, sliced.

* 100g diced bacon (optional).

* 2–3 tablespoons oil or butter.

* 2 cloves of garlic (optional).

* Salt and black pepper to taste.

* ½ teaspoon paprika.

* Fresh chopped parsley.

Preparation:

* Boil the potatoes (with skins on) for 15–20 minutes until partially tender; let them cool, then peel and slice them.

* Heat the oil or butter in a large skillet, then arrange the potatoes in a single layer.

* Let them brown over medium heat—without constant stirring—until golden and crispy on both sides.

* Add the onion and bacon (if using), and sauté until the onion is browned and tender.

* Add the garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika, and stir for 1–2 minutes.

* Stir in the chopped parsley at the end and serve hot.

✨ The secret to crispiness: Dry the potatoes thoroughly after boiling, and do not overcrowd the pan so they brown properly instead of steaming.

😋 The result: Golden potatoes that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with delicious onion and herb flavors!
